Born into an elite family of the Iceni tribe in what is now eastern England (modern Norfolk).

Romans invade Britain under Emperor Claudius; Iceni tribe initially allowed semi‑independence under King Prasutagus.

Nero becomes emperor of Rome.

Boudica rallies the Iceni, Trinovantes, and other tribes to revolt. They destroy Camulodunum (Colchester), killing Roman settlers.

Boudica’s forces defeat part of Legio IX Hispana and burn Londinium (London) and Verulamium (St Albans). Estimated 70,000–80,000 Romans and Britons killed.

King Prasutagus dies. His will leaves his kingdom jointly to his daughters and the Roman emperor, but Rome seizes Iceni lands. Boudica is flogged, and her daughters are assaulted.

Boudica dies soon after the defeat, either by suicide (according to Tacitus) or illness (according to Cassius Dio).

Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paulinus regroups and decisively defeats Boudica’s army despite being outnumbered.
