Hercules received an extraordinary education: Autolycus taught him wrestling; Eurytus taught him archery; Castor taught him fighting in armour; and the centaur Chiron taught him wisdom. The musician Linus taught him the lyre — but when Linus struck him in correction, Hercules killed him with the instrument. Even as a boy, his rage was ungovernable.
