So-called "Toluid Revolution". Möngke is elected as Great Khan with the support of Batu and his own mother, Sorghaghtani Beki. This constitutes a major shift of power from the Ogedeids to the Toluids- Möngke is the son of Tolui and Sorghaghtani Beki. Möngke's three full siblings are Hulegu, Kublai, and Ariq Böke, who will fight a civil war with Kublai after Möngke's death.

The Toluids consolidate power with some nice purging of the Ogedeids and Chagataids. Möngke then spends the decade focused on the war against the Song, which also featured invasions of Dai Viet, Tibet, and kingdoms in modern Yunnan province.
