Götterdämmerung

After obtaining the Ring of Alberich, and after some unfortunate misunderstandings, Siegfried ended up killing Mime. After running from his actions, and settling down for an attempt at a normal life with Brunnhilde, Siegfried eventually met his doom at the hands of Hagen, Alberich’s son. Siegfried's funeral pyre burned with such fury that it engulfed Valhalla, sending pieces of the great hall crashing to the Earth. The spirit of Fafnir, the Drachenauge, killed Odin after escaping Siegfried's body. The Twilight of the Gods had well and truly begun, with the rest of the Northern Pantheon falling in battle. Europe's North was left destitute, both by the death of their gods, and the damage done to the land itself.
