Following the Celebi incident, Hala is given a premonition of Kukui becoming his successor as Kahuna. Hala considers this a positive sign of Kukui's well-being, and justifies any warning sign behaviors of Kukui's (ie, lingering anywhere but home, inability to communicate with most children his age, lack of clothing, etc) as paranoia and expects Tapu Koko to communicate with him if he were "actually" in danger.
