As is customary, the three of them forgo seventh grade to participate in the Challenge. Kukui has a significantly easier time than the other two boys, and it does not go unnoticed by the Tapu and the other Kahunas-- who had already known about him to begin with. On the converse, the Tapu and the Kahunas largely disapprove of Guzma and his forceful, unsportsmanlike strategy. Hala begins to have inauspicious premonitions about Guzma and grows concerned for him.
