Kukui and Guzma end up going to the same middle school, where they meet Molayne (who is just as skinny and nerdy as Kapono, but isn't usually the object of Guzma's teasing). Though they remain friends, Kapono, being two years younger, only sees Kukui at wrestling practice and neighborhood functions.
